Review
This book grabbed my attention right from the start and kept me invested in what was happening. I enjoyed the backstory about the minor zombie interactions throughout history and how it was later explained what made these zombies different from the typical ones. It added a unique twist to the genre and helped set the story apart from more traditional zombie tales. I also liked that the military played a helpful role, which was a refreshing change from what we often see in apocalypse stories.
The characters were all distinct, with their own personalities and growth throughout the novel. As the story progresses, it’s easy to become attached to some of them, though in a zombie story that can be risky. Their development made the stakes feel more personal and the story more engaging.
There were a few minor grammar errors throughout the book, but they didn’t distract from the overall experience or take away from the story itself.
One of my favourite aspects was the ending, particularly the way David Blake confronted and worked through some of his past issues. It felt satisfying and added an emotional layer to the conclusion. In his shoes, I would have done the same thing. I am looking forward to seeing where the story goes next.
If you enjoy zombies and want a different twist, this is the book for you.
