Randi-Lee began hosting the Write or Die Show in 2021. She has conducted over 200 interviews and expanded to include other relevant topics.
Because the only way to end the stigma is to speak openly and honestly.
In 2020, host Randi-Lee Bowslaugh was working on her third nonfiction book, which promoted speaking openly about mental health. During this time, she was toying with creating a podcast but was uncertain what topic she would address.
In 2021, as she researched ways to promote her book, she spoke with a few people who advised her on figuring out what she wanted to address for the podcast. As she continued to think about this idea, the concept of mental health kept popping up. However, it wasn’t until she spoke with Mike Ulmer that the whole idea of interviewing other authors came into existence.
Being an author herself, it made sense to speak with other authors. Many people have mental health trouble, and authors are often open to discussing the topic. From there, she knew it couldn’t just be a podcast, so the show was created with a YouTube channel.
Immediately after putting out a call for guests, there was a tremendous response, giving her the confidence to make the Write or Die Show meaningful.
Each episode features an author, a mental health challenge, and coping strategies. We share our lows and what we have learned that works for each person. Not every coping strategy works for every person, which is why having a variety of guests sharing is so important.
Remember: The only way to end the stigma of mental health is to speak openly and honestly.
Understanding mental illness goes beyond what we know; it is essential to understand how we got here.
Hosts Randi-Lee and Renata decided to create a show dedicated to researching and explaining the history of mental illness. Each episode, one of the hosts picks a topic to share while the other host hears the information for the first time. This format not only reveals what is behind mental illness but also has a fun side, as the information can often be shocking.
Seeing the Write or Die Show exceed Randi-Lee’s expectations, she decided to incorporate other serious and important topics. The show’s format is the same as the Write or Die Show, but the discussions are focused on neurodiversity. We see the world through the eyes of others, and we share our neurodiversity (how our brains process information atypically) to show how we triumph.
Various neurodiversities may include: Autism, ADHD, OCD, Tourette’s, learning disorders, etc.
Randi-lee provides short, honest book reviews.
